Question. Did the recession change which industries the unemployed came from?

• Encoding. A stack normalized to 100% every month, so band thickness is an industry's share of the unemployed, not its count.
• Why this form. A count stack shows the total doubling and buries the mix. Normalizing each month answers the composition question directly; the subtitle and findings carry the size.
