Three classes, three different odds
Three classes, three different odds
Question. How did a passenger's class change their odds?
- Encoding. One ring per class; arc length is the share of that class's passengers who survived or died. Colors stay fixed across rings.
- Why this form. Three rings answer "what share of this class survived" at a glance, which is the question here. Comparing counts across classes would need bars; the class sizes differ by more than two to one.
What this design gives up
Counts and sex. Third class had more than twice as many passengers as first; the notebook in this family shows sex and class together.
